HEALTH POLICIES

A child with ANY illness symptoms including runny/stuffy nose ) is to stay home a minimum of 48 hours.

·        Fever 100 F - child needs to be fever free for 48 hours without the aid of medication

·        Diarrhea - child must be symptom free for 48 hours without the aid of medication

·        Vomiting – a child must be symptom free for 48 hours without the aid of medication (so 48 hours from the last time they vomited.)

·        Runny nose (especially with colored discharge or a continuous nasal discharge must be kept home 48 hours minimum.

·        Rash –must stay home 48 hours, note required from doctor saying it is not contagious. As with the case of contagious diseases (ie. Chicken pox, hand foot and mouth, herpes simplex virus, roseola, strep throat etc.) Children should remain home longer if they have any open sores, blisters or lesions that have not scabbed over. In all cases if you are unsure, err on the side of caution for the well being of the other children in daycare and myself

·        Discharge from eyes or ear

         Pink eye

·        Lice – child needs to be treated and nits removed before returning;

·        Communicable Diseases – chicken pox, measles, mumps, conjunctivitis (pink eye), influenza etc.

The child may return when the incubation and contagious period is passed and the child is well enough to resume normal childcare activities.

If your child wakes in the night with a fever or sick or if he/she starts his/her day off with a fever please keep your child home! One sick child in daycare begins a continuous circle of children being sick. A cold is inevitable however if your child is coughing uncontrollably or has a yellow/green colored discharge from his/her nose please keep your child home!

Medication:  If  your child needs medication they should be home.

All medication should be given to your child at home and I need to be informed they have been given medication for teething only!

Antibiotics or any prescription medications should be given at home and the child must stay home from daycare for minimum 48 hours to ensure no immediate reactions ( which can happen even after 48 hours).  Medication will be administered here only when a signed medication authorization form outlining dosage dates and times is completed by the parent or guardian.  All prescription medication must be in its original pharmacy container showing physician and patient's name, date of issue and instructions.

Always err on the side of caution to avoid a circle of illness in the daycare. Text me anytime as my phone is turned off every night by 10pm- don’t fear waking me. I check all messages before bed and at 730am.

Ultimately it is at my discretion as to whether or not a child may attend my home childcare not a doctor or anyone else.

If your child is ill and unable to attend home childcare, payment is required. If I have to take time off due to my illness you do not have to pay me.

My household members have been vaccinated against Covid 19.
